CALLING ALL ANGELS

These photos are of a sculpture that I finished a few days ago.

When I started this one, I definitely didn’t have an angel figure in mind, however, she showed up when I was having difficulty deciding how to design the back of her.  I felt a mysterious urge to add wings and as soon as I did that, the rest of her effortlessly came together.

I named this piece, “Calling All Angels”, because that song by Jane Siberry, kept swirling through my head after I had added the wings.  I especially love the part that goes:

“Calling all angels,

Calling all angels,

Walk me through this one

Don’t leave me alone.

Calling all angels,

calling all angels,

We’re tryin

we’re hopin

we’re hurtin

we’re lovin

we’re cryin

we’re callin,

’cause we’re not sure how this goes.”

No, we sure don’t know how it goes, do we?

I think the words in this song are even more profound, given what is happening right now to so many people on the planet and to our beautiful earth mother.  We definitely could use a little help, don’t you think?

MOTHER NATURE’S BEAUTY

One day this week, Mother Nature had on her Fall cloak of colors, and the next day, she decided to try on her fluffy white Winter coat.  She looks spectacular in whatever she puts on!

The views from our window…..

FALL CLOAK OF COLORS

WINTER COAT OF WHITE

A RED DRESS

One day that, and the next day this!

A LITTLE WHITE HAT

A LITTLE HEART TO HOLD

LIFE IS A BLESSING!

When I lived in a city, I use to dread the thoughts of winter.  Five plus months of slipping and sliding in traffic, cold looking towers that blocked the skyline, the bitter cold and seemingly endless shoveling of hard packed snow.   Winters are so different here in the Okanagan,  especially where we  live…. along side a beautiful canyon.  The winter scenery is always magical looking.  The snowflakes are thicker, they cling to the pines and glisten diamond-like in the sun.  Sometimes the canyon wind current, sends snowflakes swirling upwards, then downwards, making us feel like we live in a snowglobe!   I think I am ready to welcome Mother Nature’s winter wonderland….a time for me to cocoon and be creative.  I feel so blessed!

SPIRIT VESSELS

Not long ago, my friend Judy, gave me a huge collection of beach glass that was given to her by a woman who had been collecting it for decades.  Some of the glass has the date of 1946 on it!    It’s magical how it found its way to me….what a gift!

Abundance!

Now this is what I call treasure!  It was like she had given me a bucket of gold!

I love using this old water worn glass on the Spirit Vessels that I make.   On a cup like form, I place more treasure……shells, jewels, dichroic glass, tempered glass and driftwood.  In each piece, I place a little word or message under the glass with the intention that someone will pick up the vessel, and know intuitively, that the message and vessel were made especially for them.

My friend Janet, described these vessels so perfectly……….

SPIRIT VESSELS

come from a magical place

in a world away from normal words.

They look like where angels and nature devas

would place their most precious secrets,

medicines and ingredients from which they would

concoct their Divine healings.

We are all spirit vessels.  What do you hold precious inside of you?
