Recently, I came across this online photo of some tall “trinket and treasure candleholders”, from a store called “Anthropologie”. To me, they looked funky, artsy and different, and best of all, they were made entirely from reclycled nicnacs, like little vases, figurines, plates, etc. I think the price on these “priceless” treasures, was around $395.00!
Rather outrageous, I thought!! So I decided to try making my own verson of trinket candleholders….”How hard can this be?”, I said to myself. Besides, hunting for thrift store treasure is one of my most favourite things to do.
So off I went to hunt and gather……
And then I began to glue, stack, balance….(waiting patiently for things to dry, one or two at a time)….and then, fall over, break, re-glue, fall over, balance, glue….well you get the picture!! This seemingly simple project was turning out to be a bit of a challenge, and definitely a lesson in patience and perseverance! So much for my grand idea of making a bunch of them! Finally, this is what I came up with…. just two!

If you want to try this project for yourself, I recommend you glue items that have really flat bottoms, use jewellery or porcelain glue, and oh yes, practice patience and persistence!
The urge to create and try different things is always with me, even if the project is a bit frustrating and the results don’t end up entirely perfect. You never know until you try something if you are going to like it or not. This DIY project resulted in a couple of interesting candleholders….that surprisingly, I rather like, and they only cost me about $8.00 each!
