The more times I surround myself with women who are living and creating in ways I admire, the easier it gets to stay on my own creative and spiritual paths….these paths are not separate from one another.
My paths are shared with a small tribe of like-minded women whom I dearly love. Whether one on one, or when more of us come together, it feels like a collective exhale and then simultaneously being filled up with a tingling calmness and a giddy happiness. Aliveness! That may not make sense, but that’s how I feel when I’m with them. This oasis of friendship we share, lets us be free of judgement when we say what we are feeling. We laugh, we collaborate, we trust and we support one another as we explore the unknown together.
We gather for meaningful conversations, some times meditating with sound or contemplating the meaning of life. And sometimes, JUST BEING….together.
Conversations are always interesting….a little bit of trivial chit chat at times, but more often we get to the good stuff right away, the kind of conversation that expands the way we view things, creatively and spiritually. The topic often discussed….”What am I suppose to be doing with my life?” or “Shouldn’t I be DOING something more with my life”?
I think this is a universal question, one in which we all seek the answer to. Quite honestly, I’d grown rather tired of thinking “I’m not enough”, thinking I should be doing something more….anything, but not knowing….what the “more” was.
I THOUGHT I COULD MEDITATE TO GET A DEFINITIVE ANSWER
“WHO AM I AND WHAT THE HECK IS MY PURPOSE?”
Well, meditating didn’t help! (Never could shut the head chatter up long enough to hear an answer, let alone hold the position). Thank goodness I had my daughters and soul sisters, (my tribe) to talk to. We had great conversations about what we thought was the truth of why we are here and deciding if we were doing enough, or doing it right. Here in a nutshell is part of our discussion….
“Belief runs deep in our society that we should be DOING something so that we can BE somebody. We love to define and label ourselves (I am a…..I do…..) and the more we do, the more worthy we are of life it seems. Self-worth can take a beating when we think this way….that we aren’t measuring up to what is expected of us. We think we need a list of accomplishments a mile long….especially for the eyes of others. Of course, there are the overly busy doers of the world, yes they make things happen. But just as important, are the people who balance the doing with the BEING.”
MY TRIBE OF BEAUTIFUL WOMEN CONCLUDED:
What we are up to is BEING the Light and Love. What we are here for is, to gather knowledge, be kind to all living things, speak wisdom, be aware of our thoughts, try to raise and expand our awareness, by HOLDING THE LIGHT that SHINES within us. Wisdom flows when women gather.
